I made myself a new banner! I just wrapped up an article on how to make it as a freelancer in the archives sector that includes some of my favorite Caw doodles to date. The past six months I’ve been using a cartoony crow doodle named Caw to promote myself and share content and advice for data work like digital asset management and full-stack development. Banner With Caw Doodles

Caw represents the creativity I bring to my freelance and consulting projects and is a visual reminder that data work doesn’t fit neatly into job categories society imposes on us. The absurdity and dissonance of seeing Caw next to highly complex technical work is the point!

My Caw doodles visually highlight the kind of freelance data service I offer:

🌟full-stack development: I can help you with database migrations (system selection, attending vendor demos, exporting data), maintaining systems (websites, databases, DAMS, CMS, apps), configurations, troubleshooting weird IT issues, and setting up remote access (servers, databases, APIs).

🌟digital product direction and management: I help manage your digital assets, set up and lead digital projects (museum exhibits, interdepartmental workflows, metadata cleanup), strategic planning, or revitalize data analysis projects (qualitative and quantitative surveys, digital collection/catalog records).

🌟technical writing/assessment: I help you better understand your data and strategize how best to manage it by conducting and writing up my findings for landscape reviews, digital ecosystem assessments, or evaluations of software (automations, integrations, CMS, DAM, website platforms).
