I’m in the news! My long-time colleague Kristen J. Nyitray and I are featured in the community news for The Paper of Records (newsletter for the Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York).
Last year we won the Arline Custer Memorial Award for our paper on Archivists and Emotional Labor that delved into the history of gendered labor in archives, historical dynamics between historians and archivists, UX personas, and radical acceptance.
One of my favorite parts of that research was introducing the psychological skill of radical acceptance (embracing emotions without judgement) to Archives. I’ve done this several times in articles and each time it feels powerful.
